'your performances were the highlight of my day." Abigail Dooley, The Magic of Christmas , NEC Birmingham, 2007.
On stilts she magically brings to life Dickens inspired creation; Miss Havisham - transporting the public into her dust filled house full of stopped clocks and spider infested cakes - children and adults are captivated by this slightly macabre but lovably eccentric old lady.
"..a towering figure of Miss Havisham, resplendent in mouldy lace and proffering a spider-covered slice of wedding cake, set the literary scene for a party to toast the 60th anniversary of Cheltenham Festivals." Country Life Magazine Sept 24th 08
One for sorrow, two for joy, three for a girl, four for a boy. Five for silver, six for gold, seven for a secret never to be told.
Magpies have always had a place in British folklore and the nursery rhymes sung in the school playground. It is considered unlucky to see one Magpie...hence..."Good morning Mr Magpie, hows the wife?",and lucky, to see two.
Inspired by the faded decadence of the 1920s , the novels "The Great Gatsby" by F. Scott Fitzgerald, "Brideshead Revisited" by Evelyn Waugh, and the monochromic beauty of these unusual looking birds, which somehow to me symbolise a type of "Englishness". Hazy days, long evenings, cricket and black tie balls. The magpies walk around your event, silent and mysterious, beware your glittery possessions, as they have a reputation for stealing!Catrin offers a diverse range of acts suitable for a wide variety of events and is happy to create and tailor acts to the clients specification.

Miss Havisham (Stilts)
"..the strangest lady I have ever seen, or ever shall see...dressed in rich materials, satins and lace and silks...bridal flowers in her hair, but her hair was white. I saw that the bride within the bridal dress had withered like the dress, and like the flowers, and had no brightness left but the brightness of her sunken eyes. "Look at me" she said "you are not afraid of a woman who has never seen the sun since you were born?" Charles Dickens 'Great Expectations'. Catrin Osborne magically brings to life one of Dickens most inspired creations who went on to become one of the most loved characters in literature. Miss Havisham is a fully interactive street theatre experience, who can transport the public into her dust filled house of stopped clocks and spider infested cakes. Perfect for any literature and arts festival, community events and halloween, victoriana or burlesque themed parties. Beleive it or not children and adults are captivated this slightly macabre but lovably eccentric old lady.
